For the first time in the history of the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk, the bridge will be closed to traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Avoid the parking lot that will be I-75 and take Shepler’s Ferry to the Island from Mackinaw City and then on to St. Ignace.  Hop on our shuttle bus to the base of the Bridge to begin your walk.  It’s fun. It’s relaxing. And it’s only the cost of a round trip ticket. (Buy online and save $2.00 per adult.)

***PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGE***

Due to larger than normal crowds expected, we may not be able to shuttle guests to the base of the bridge for the walk.  If we are unable to get everyone to the base in a timely fashion, we will bring everyone to Little Bear Arena to catch the bus to the start of the walk.

Staying in St. Ignace?

Walk the bridge, then take the boat to the Island. Instead of spending your time in the car waiting for the bridge traffic, you can spend the day in one of the most beautiful places in Michigan, getting one more day of summer vacation!

Labor Day departures start at 5:30 a.m. from Mackinaw City.  Don’t want to get started that early?  Our next departures that allow you to “boat hop” to St. Ignace are at 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. and will give you plenty of time to walk the 5 mile span.  All walkers must start walking the Bridge by 10:00 a.m.

Save time and money and buy your tickets now!

But wouldn’t you just need a oneway ticket from Mackinaw City to St Ignace?
You’d be walking back over the bridge…

Thank you for the question. We do not have a boat that goes directly from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace. You would be taking the boat from Mackinaw City to the Island, then on to St. Ignace.

If we’ve already been on the island a few days and only need taken to St. Ignace to start the walk, what would the cost be for the ferry? Would it be covered by our round trip ticket from Mackinac City to the island on Thursday?

If you purchase a round trip ticket, that ticket will get you to St. Ignace to start the walk. Have a great trip!

We will be staying on the island. But will be leaving after the bridge walk. We will have luggage and bikes to get back to Mackinaw city, what is our best option? Are we able to send our bikes and luggage to Mackinaw City and then just pick them up at the dock when we finish the bridge walk? Or would we need to take the ferry to St. Ignace and then get back to the island to get our things and then ferry back to Mackinaw City? Any guidance would be appreciated.

If you are going to walk the bridge, just let either your hotel or our dock staff on the Island know that the luggage has to go to Mackinaw City. Bring your bikes with you to the Island dock and let us know that they need to go to Mackinaw City for you to pick up later.

The first ferry from the Island to St. Ignace is at 6am on Labor Day. Our shuttles will be waiting at the St. Ignace dock for the arrival of that boat from the Island. We hope you have a great time walking the Bridge!
